The implementation of the rebate is based on the concept of da' wa taajjal, where the bank as the financier gives a discount to their customer from the full amount when the customer makes an early settlement. There are issues up to the court level regarding the status of rebates as well as claims from customers about the actual rates that are eligible to be earned. this study was conducted on the application of rebates in the initial settlement of housing financing in 2010 which started with discretion until the latest change by Bank Negara Malaysia in (BNM) in 2019 which is stipulates rebates in the agreement clause. So, this article will study and analyze the changes in the implementation of rebates in Islamic financing from discretionary, unilateral and bilateral rebates status. It is a qualitative study with a literature review approach. While the data collection process is through document analysis, the data are analyzed using descriptive and comparative approaches. The expected outcome of this research is to discuss the assessment of the extent to which the implementation of rebates with the changes that have taken place guarantees welfare on the part of the customer. This paper offers the results of analysis in helping Islamic Financial Institutions (IKIs) and Islamic banking in an effort to strengthen management related to the provision of Islamic housing financing rebates and further dignify Islamic banking management to boost the image of Islamic finance and the teachings of Islam. As well as recommending the best Rebate application for Bank Negara Malaysia to produce a current Policy Document.
2023-06-01T01:33:24-07:00Copyright (c) 2023 Business and Management Horizonshttps://www.macrothink.org/journal/index.php/bmh/article/view/21033A Case Study of Waqf Fund in Tertiary Education2023-06-01T01:33:24-07:00Rafeah Saidonrafeahs@uitm.edu.myAhna Afnani Mohamed Azamrafeahs@uitm.edu.my
Rise in cost for higher education have been causing less privilege and self-financed students who wanted to further their studies in tertiary education unable to do so due to the less affordability and lack of availability of financial assistance. However, waqf is the most effective ways that have been used to solve the problem. This study aims to examine how universities established their own waqf or endowment fund to help students that are in dire need of financial assistance and at the same time becomes an alternate supply of funds to finance academic activities in university. The study also explained the challenges facing by universities’ waqf bodies. For that, two public universities have been chosen in this study i.e., Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). This research uses a qualitative approach by applying interviews and library research in the process of collecting data. The finding has shown that waqf undoubtedly offers a great benefit in ensuring the opportunity and access to education at both universities – IIUM and UTM. The challenge, however, is that it requires the continuous societal support in order for it to sustain its operation
2023-06-01T01:33:24-07:00Copyright (c) 2023 Business and Management Horizonshttps://www.macrothink.org/journal/index.php/bmh/article/view/21034The Importance of Accountability in Zakat Institutions2023-06-01T01:33:25-07:00Siti Noorbiah Md Rejabsitinoorbiah@uitm.edu.myHairunnizam Wahidsitinoorbiah@uitm.edu.mySalmy Edawaty Yaacobsitinoorbiah@uitm.edu.my
Zakat institutions are seen to be growing in terms of collection and distribution as well as various programs to increase the capacity of asnaf in line with the country’s progress especially in Malaysia. This study is qualitative in nature using documentation and observation methods. It is hoped that the study can provide input to stakeholders and indirectly increase trust and satisfaction with zakat institutions in Malaysia. Product label packaging is an important marketing component that plays a vital role in marketing communication and provides a significant part of the intended message along with legally prescribed content. However, some of the labels used in packaging might lead to consumer confusion. The use of Islamic symbols in food packaging labels is one of the practices that may confuse others. Therefore, it has become popular in the Malaysian market and as a trademark to attract Muslim consumers. This study analysed the factors influencing the acceptance of Islamic attributes in food packaging labels. This quantitative research was based on the data collected through the questionnaires with the respondents from Muslim consumers in Kampung Parit No 3, Muar, Johor. The data was then analysed using descriptive analysis through SPSS Program Version 22. The research results revealed that the factors of belief in religion, which believe the products are halal, good, and safe to be consumed, are the main factors that influenced them in accepting the products that use Islamic attributes in their packaging labels. This research indicates that using Islamic attributes in food packaging has influenced them to accept the products. This could offer significant insight to the authority body, manufacturers, consumers, and researchers.
2023-05-31T00:00:00-07:00Copyright (c) 2023 Business and Management Horizonshttps://www.macrothink.org/journal/index.php/bmh/article/view/21037The Role of University’s Entrepreneurship Program and Experiential Activities Towards Entrepreneurial Intention: Exploratory Analysis2023-06-01T01:42:34-07:00Muhammad Syahrul Deen Ahmad Roslizakiahsamori@uitm.edu.myAmzari Tumiranzakiahsamori@uitm.edu.myMohd Afandi Mat Ranizakiahsamori@uitm.edu.myHardy Loh Rahimzakiahsamori@uitm.edu.myMohd Rizal Muwazir Mukhazirzakiahsamori@uitm.edu.my
In this era of globalization, the field of entrepreneurship is seen as a major agenda in empowering and sustaining the community’s economy.
