Abstract

This study evaluates the educational outcomes and preliminary market feasibility of Nyastra (https://nyastra.co.id/), an innovative rule-based digital transliteration platform designed to revitalise Balinese script (Aksara Bali) and address commercial compliance challenges under Governor Regulation Bali No. 80 of 2018. Utilising a mixed-methods research design, the investigation combines a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest trial among 22 eighth-grade students at State Junior High School (SMP N) 1 Kuta with a comprehensive dual-target preliminary market feasibility survey. Quantitative results demonstrate a statistically significant improvement in student transliteration accuracy, with class average scores rising from 42.35% to 74.12% following the digital intervention. Qualitative observations revealed high student satisfaction (rated 10/10), increased classroom participation, and unexpected cross-linguistic benefits in English pronunciation. While algorithmic limitations in rendering complex script rules highlight Nyastra's role as a complementary pedagogical tool alongside teacher instruction, empirical market evaluations underscore its substantial commercial potential. A user feasibility survey (n = 500) confirmed strong academic utility, with students representing 97.8% of users and 98.6% expressing positive overall satisfaction. Concurrently, the preliminary advertiser market survey (n = 524) identified a prime commercial demographic dominated by tourism (31.1%), culinary (21.6%), and non-formal education (21.6%), with 91.4% of respondents demonstrating high receptivity to native advertising formats. This finding confirmed Nyastra's prospective roadmap rather than an already fully implemented business infrastructure, harmonising indigenous language preservation with modern digital platforms.
