The Journal of Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation (JEBI) invites submissions for Volume 14 (2027). JEBI is an international, open access journal published by Macrothink Institute (ISSN 2332-8851, DOI prefix 10.5296). The unit of analysis is the venture or the entrepreneur. The journal publishes work that explains mechanisms: why some ventures grow and others do not. JEBI uses continuous publication. Accepted articles are published online as soon as they are ready and added to the annual volume; the volume is closed in December with a cumulative Table of Contents. Scope Contributions are organised around six themes: 1. Entrepreneurial process and new venture creation Opportunity recognition, business formation, start-up teams, early-stage survival, transition from informal to formal enterprise. 2. Small business growth, performance and survival Firm growth and productivity, employment generation, exporting, family-business succession, constraints that hold small firms back. 3. Innovation, technology and business-model change Product and process innovation, digital transformation, commercialisation, platform and circular business models, technology adoption by small firms. 4. Entrepreneurial finance and markets for new ventures Venture capital and angel investment, crowdfunding, microfinance, credit constraints, valuation and governance of young firms. 5. Entrepreneurial strategy and internationalisation Competitive strategy, scaling, international new ventures, born globals, market entry by small firms. 6. Entrepreneurship policy, ecosystems and support institutions Incubators and accelerators, entrepreneurial universities, regional and national policy, regulation, evaluation of support programmes. Method and evidence Empirical papers should state the venture population studied, the data source and period, and the method used. Conceptual papers should state the mechanism they theorise and the kind of evidence that would test it. Quantitative, qualitative, mixed-method and comparative designs are equally welcome, as are rigorous single-case studies that speak to a wider entrepreneurial question. Article types Original research articles; review articles that synthesise evidence on a defined entrepreneurial question; case studies with an explicit analytical framework; conceptual papers that set out a testable mechanism. Short descriptive company profiles and unsolicited book reviews are not published. Out of scope General management studies, macro-economic policy analysis, and descriptive business cases without an explicit entrepreneurial question will be returned without review. Studies of large established corporations are considered only where the entrepreneurial process (formation, innovation, scaling or exit) is the object of explanation. Submissions that fall outside the six themes listed above will be returned as out of scope without review. Peer review Submissions are assessed under a double-anonymous model by at least two independent external referees. The first decision is normally issued four to ten weeks after submission. All submissions are screened with iThenticate before they are sent for review. The journal follows COPE guidance.
