A Scheme for Quantitative Evaluation of Competence of Engineering Graduates and Students

Natalya Churlyaeva

Abstract

An approach was proposed that gives a scheme to evaluate quantitatively both particular student competencies and the total competency as an integrated characteristic suitable to describe a single student (graduate) as well as a group of students. In this article the two methods of evaluating student (graduate) competence are presented: 1) by industry or external; 2) by a higher education (HE) institution or internal. The latter method is illustrated in detail by calculating and comparing the average competence of three groups of students.
